May 2005 CAE exam results are in!

My colleague announced on Saturday that she passed the CAE exam, and the anonymous CAE candidate who posted a comment a few weeks ago also has passed! Congratulations to them and everyone else who passed! If you’re one of those who was successful, please leave a comment here. I’d love to hear from you.

I passed as well. The results sequence was humorous in itself (in retrospect). I don’t know about everyone else, but I really didn’t start thinking about getting my results until 4-5 weeks after I took the test.

At five and a half weeks I received a thin envelope for ASAE. I took a deep breath and opened it. It was from John Graham, thanking me for being an ASAE member. Grrrrrrr.

6 weeks out I received a four color brochure inviting me to attend the three day CAE Immersion Course (which I had attended in March). Did they know something I didn’t? I stuck it on my wall and rubbed it for luck as I entered and left my office.

At 6 1/2 weeks received an email from ASAE saying that the results had been tallied and the letters would be sent out that week. A colleague said it was a “Nanny Nany Boo Boo. We know if you passed and you don’t” letter.

Then at seven weeks it arrived, but it wasn’t a thin letter so my heart skipped a beat. There were two sheets in the envelope… one the letter congratulating me and the other being a sample press release. That second sheet could very well have been the stats on the questions I missed.

I was especially nervous about the test because I walked out of there thinking “Hey, that wasn’t too bad.” There weren’t any of the horror scenario multiple choice questions that I had been envisioning. And being an optimist I promptly started to wonder if I missed many subtle nuances in the questions. Anyways it be over now! Whoo Hooo!

Hey, Serge, way to go, man! Welcome to the club!

Waiting for those results sucks. Can’t remember if I blogged about the fact that my results were postmarked twice. Once in DC, and again a few days later in Maryland. As a consequence, I got my results about a week after most of the other folks I knew got theirs. Anyhow, congratulations and I hope to meet you in Nashville.
