Hot tip: Magcloud prints magazines on demand

Magcloud looks like a nifty competitor to Lulu.

MagCloud enables you to publish your own magazines. All you have to do is upload a PDF and we’ll take care of the rest: printing, mailing, subscription management, and more.

Sure, Lulu does magazines, but Lulu is a bit complicated if you ask me. Magcloud offers just one size, which should simplify things incredibly. If you can work within their constraints, this could be a winner, especially if you have small print runs or specialty pubs.

The only trouble seems to be the payment model… looks like all orders must be placed on Magcloud.com. Not a deal killer, but still, it sure would be nice to have orders placed on your association’s site instead.

I agree that if you have a really small list this could be a great model. I would suggest thinking about the service as a non-dues revenue generator. Resources that an organization would not like to manage in-house but would like to offer on an as needed basis would be a perfect fit for the service.

Member directories could be moved online, with the option to purchase a printed version for those who members who prefer it. Looks like a great service!
