One chapter in the story of how the Virginia Association of REALTORS’ social media initiative came to be is included in this month’s Associations Now magazine. Get to know two of my favorite VAR members, Frank and Daniel, and see how putting emphasis on the “social” part of “social media” helped us build our online member relations efforts up from the grassroots.

Hey Ben,
I just got done reading Lisa’s article that featured you and VAR. I thought it was great. There is so much theoretical talk about using social networking but there seems to be so little actual tactical information and examples out there. The article did a fantastic job of explaining what you did and why you did it that way. Kudos to Lisa for writing it in the way she did and for you and your colleagues for giving her the info she needed.
I thought the article rocked. Your approach was really smart and worth emulating.
Thanks, guys. It was a real honor to get written up like this.
I think Ben’s actually being too modest–just so you know, he suggested the idea for the article and he was the one who connected me with Daniel and Frank (and then all three of them kindly came by the ASAE & The Center offices to talk for more than an hour). Ben, Frank, and Daniel couldn’t have been more helpful.
(And it was fun to be able to speak directly with a member’s members to see how the association’s work was impacting them and their impressions of the association, in a very positive way.)
This is not fair. Ben is having a facial hair contest at Bloggercon at ASAE Annual and with all the kudos he is getting for his article his head is just going to grow bigger and bigger so he has more surface area on which to grow hair. This has got to stop now!!! I hope everyone has a great 4th.
