Opinionated Carnivore

Here’s what’s fun about the blogosphere. A magazine editor, the guy who rarely, if ever, gets to speak his mind or show his personality or express his opinion (at least not in print), cuts loose. I am really enjoying Scott Briscoe’s posts on Acronym these days. By virtue of his position as Associations Now’s editor in chief, he is probably one of the best-read, most plugged-in people in the association community. Think of him as the Carnivore of association literature and ideas.

We all know Scott the Journalist from Associations Now. What we’ve not known, up until now, is what Scott thinks about all those articles he publishes. Journalists are supposed to be agnostic, to squelch their opinions, to report just the facts. So it is really fascinating for me to read what fiery opinions Scott has.

And I guess it must feel at least a little liberating for Scott.

Geez, Ben, I’m embarrassed.

Thank you for the kind words.

I keep reading about both the possibilities of blogging as part of your work and the dangers. I’ve only just started to explore the dangers on Acronym. I was serious in my first post when I said I expect to say plenty of things that will pretty much rule me out of the running for most association jobs. Guess I better be sure ASAE & The Center continues to value me.

I don’t think you have anything to worry about, Scott. Keep pushing the envelope!
